How a PUBLISHING COACH attempts to make a tasty turkey casserole from leftovers:
She follows the instructions word for word:
4 cups leftover prepared stuffing
4 cups coarsely chopped cooked turkey
3/4 cup Mayonnaise
1/4 cup whole berry cranberry sauce
2 cups mashed potatoes
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Preheat oven to 375°. Spray 8-inch baking dish with no-stick cooking spray. Spoon in 2 cups stuffing, then top with turkey.
Combine 1/4 cup mayonnaise with cranberry sauce; evenly spread over turkey.
Combine remaining 1/2 cup mayonnaise, potatoes and cheese in large bowl. Evenly spread on turkey, then top with remaining 2 cups stuffing.
Bake 40 minutes or until heated through. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
She chops, shreds and measures everything as instructed, makes a big mess in the kitchen and then cleans up, and finally, she puts the casserole in the oven.
Satisfied, she goes to the study and starts formatting a book.
Two hours later the smoke alarm goes off, she runs to the kitchen and realize:
She forgot that the oven timer was broken.
She got so immersed in her work that forgot about everything else around her.
To save the day and put dinner on the table:
She throws the burned casserole in the garbage
Finds the phone number
Picks up the phone
Orders pizza for dinner and goes to continue formatting the book.
A true story, it happened two days after Thanksgiving, 2014
