Jerri Salley
I was born and raised in Orlando, Florida, and moved to South Carolina in 2001. I love taking trips to the mountains, reading, and writing poetry.
I’m family-oriented, I have four beautiful daughters, and I’m a grandmother, sister, auntie, and most of all, a God-fearing woman. I’m grateful for the host of friends, my great leaders at Family Life Worship Center, and My prayer partners who always make time to pray with me. I have worked in many different jobs, the last being in construction where I learned so much about diversity, respect, and disrespect, which can happen when you don’t stand your ground. |
Turning Misery Into Ministry
An inspirational memoir of strength and faith
|
Raised by a single, hardworking mother, Jerri, and her sister grew up in a neighborhood where drugs, sex, violence, and the sound of helicopters looking for suspects were a part of their daily lives.
She became pregnant at fourteen, expelled from public school, she struggled to keep her head above water and did the best she could to raise her child. Not knowing her own worth and unaware of the fact that life could be different, she believed her life was normal, just like the lives of everyone she knew. Until an encounter at age sixteen made her realize that God had predestined her for so much more. She realized that every bad experience of her young life had a purpose, God had been testing her strength and faith. In this short book, Jerri shares the events of her life when she’d been tested and tells you about the power of having faith and standing strong even in the darkest times when there is little hope left to hold onto. |
