Morning routines and habits by P.J. MannWhen stress, crazy timetables, not-so-smart working schedules make us burned out, we all wish we could take a holiday. But we must keep going and waking up in the morning needs something more than just an alarm clock. However we all have our ways to overcome the tiredness and to kick-start our days. Some people jump out of bed at the first sound of the alarm ready to face the day. Others require an hour long self-persuasion about the great things that are going to happen during that day (which generally is more a self-bribing and often turning into self-blackmailing). I have always been an early bird, so in the morning it’s a game of who is waking up first. Me, or the alarm clock? Then the real kick-start is when I brew my first morning cup of coffee at the office. There’s something magic about being the first one to arrive. The silence, the tranquility of having the common spaces for myself, and enjoying my first morning cup in quiet as I read the first emails. Things are not much different during the weekends or holidays. I am always the first one to wake up in the morning, and nothing wakes me up better than some quality time with my favorite cup of coffee. Since we are all different and have different routines and habits, I'm curious to find out what’s your way of kick-starting the day. Singing in the shower? A cup of tea or coffee? Quality time having breakfast and reading the news? Tell me about it!

I'm an open my eyes and ready to go kinda gal. Singing in the shower? Oh, no! I would never subject anyone to that kind of experience. The truth is that my singing talent equals my dancing abilities. When I try to dance, I must look like a praying mantis having a seizure :)

Haha! Believe me, not a pretty site when I try to dance. Luckily, my hubby is not much into dancing, so it haven't been a problem for us :)

My mornings start similar to yours. I am up before the alarm most days and, as long as I get my cup of coffee in my hands, I am ready to face anything. Attempting to talk to me before I have a cup in my hands is a risky endeavor.

I have two alarms. I generally wake before the first one and turn it off. Then, seconds later, my 'backup' starts. Usually it creeps into the bedroom, sits alongside the bed as near as it can get to head height, then, after a slight hiatus to build up tension, lets rip with a penetrating bark. I have no option but to get up and my alarm will then take me for a nice long walk. This happens every day, all year round. Only when I get back and lay out the alarm's breakfast, am I allowed to even think about other matters such as writing. My alarm, Mac for short, has me well trained!

I wake up, cursing my alarm and the sun for existing. Knowing The only reason for mornings is so I don’t hate afternoons. If I’m up anywhere between 6-9 am my brain doesn’t fully function until approximately 12:04PM. Erika can confirm this quite well as she’s tried conversing with me pre-noon. (That poor patient woman!) after that I’m ready to face the day and most of the night. There are many times I’m crawling into bed as someone in the house is getting ready for work. Most people I give a grunt to as I pass by in the morning and that’s gotten worse over the years of being “unsafe for work conditions” I won’t bore with why I hate OSHA… but I do, a lot! That’s how I wake. 😈

I'm really not a morning person. I hate getting up early, although my dogs know what time the morning walk should be and make sure I'm up...

I love mornings! Crisp air, birds singing, the quiet before anyone is up. I love a morning run to start the day.
